¿Should you choose a hotel?

Hotels are highly recommended for childless couples or small families that prefer a quiet vacation. They usually enjoy the beach, like to have a nice rest and enjoy animation and sport activities offered by and at the same hotel, without renting a car. Therefore, most of the time the profile of those who stay in a hotel includes tourists from foreign countries who like those spectacles and children animation activities organised by the same hotel: magicians, flamenco dance, pool games, archery and so on. A positive feature is the daily cleaning of the room and that you forget about cooking. In case that this is your pick, good luck with your choice (we strongly recommend you choose a 3-star or higher-grade hotel)!.

Take into account that, if you travel with just one child, some hotels may allow an extra bed in your room, but in case you are a larger family, a hotel room may not be enough, as few of them offer rooms for or 4 guests. If that is your case, it is better to opt for a tourist apartment, which is a very popular and widespread accommodation in Ibiza.

What about non-tourist apartments?

Some tourists decide on renting a non-tourist apartment from a private landlord or through an agency. However, there is no strict regulation of these kind of accommodations, so what you book may not always match what you get. A tourist apartment is highly recommended for those who wish to enjoy Ibiza to the fullest: its gorgeous beaches, treks through amazing landscapes, hippy markets and many other activities, without having to worry about meal deadlines -as you can cook your own meals back at the apartment or visit any of the multiple bars, cafeterias, restaurants, pizzerias or chiringuitos located in the area. ¿Is an aparthotel a good accommodation choice in Ibiza?

You may also decide on an aparthotel, a combination of both a hotel and an apartment. On the one hand, they offer hotel services (animation and meals) and the rooms are more spacious apartments. In spite of lacking animation and meals, a tourist apartment is a very similar option. In a setting such as ours, lacking a restaurant service inside your premises does not constitute a problem, as there are a lot of restaurants, bars and cafeterias within walking distance and, in case you are a good cook, you can prepare your own meals using the best local ingredients. Our tip? Have breakfast in the apartment or a cafeteria located in our area and have the rest of your meals wherever the day may take you. On the other hand, tourist apartments usually offer more kitchenware and kitchen equipment than aparthotels as they encourage you to have your meals at their own restaurant or buffet. In an aparthotel you will be able to heat a baby bottle and cook a simple meal.

This type of business is scarce in Ibiza. You may find them in Sant Antoni -which we do not highly recommend in case you are not a night hawk-, but not in our area. Therefore, most clients who search for an aparthotel in Playa den Bossa end up booking a tourist or holiday apartment instead, as it offers freedom, independence and the best equipment and services (change of bed-linen, towels, daily cleaning, security and so on).

Are there hostels in Ibiza?

In spite of the wide array of leisure, sport and educational options Ibiza has to offer, there are no youth hostels in the island. However, there are many hostels and guesthouses. Usually, they are centric and affordable accommodations -even though the price may vary if it is high or low season-. Despite the fact that some have been recently renovated, most hostels are quite outdated in regards to services and conveniences.

Camping in Ibiza

Camping is quite affordable, but not a very popular accommodation option in Ibiza. There are only 4 camping areas in the whole island, located in Sant Antoni and Es Canar (Santa Eulària), which are not exactly centric settings. Currently, most camping sites are the main choice for young adults who travel on a budget, instead of the classical nature lovers.
